The weekend in Aspen was great. I unfortunately never got to meet Bobby Brown, but I did get to see him win a silver medal in the skiing big air competition and had a really great time. Heading back to Boulder I was filled with disappointment that the weekend was over and it was time to start school, but I couldn’t help remembering that a drive past Avon was inevitable. Of course, we made another stop at our favorite deli. This time we got breakfast sandwiches, a loaf of fresh bread, and of course, some Italian sandwiches for later.
Above is the breakfast sandwich I got which was incredibly delicious and hot out of the oven - bacon, egg, and fresh mozzarella cheese on a vegetable-swiss bagel. The bagel itself is enough to warrant an explanation and rave review - crispy swiss cheese on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside, with a subtle yet distinctive flavor of garden vegetables. Crispy bacon, gooey cheese, and fluffy egg - it is a breakfast sandwich for champions!
Later, when the sandwich was gone and my craving for Avon Deli wasn’t, I pulled out my loaf of freshly baked organic Sundried Tomato and Roasted Garlic bread. The crispy crust and soft inside married with the sweetness from the tomatoes and the bite from the garlic makes this loaf so delicious and impossible to put down - until it is gone, and you are forced to begin plotting your next trip to Avon.
